Just Desserts and More
My desire in creating Just Desserts and More was to provide a quality of culinary options for companies, organizations and individuals who want to serve exciting, scrumptious meals to groups at family gatherings, meetings and social events.
The idea of the company and the services that it will provide evolved over a period of forty years during which I sold carrot cakes to Bloomingdale’s at Riverside Square in Hackensack, New Jersey and to Beekman Street Bakery at South Side Seaport in New York City when it first opened in the 80’s. Moments of excitement over the years included, the Saturday experience of strolling through Bloomingdale’s offering customers the opportunity to sample my carrot cake and selling it by the pound to customers who were absolutely floored by its taste. It was Bloomingdale’s that helped me to get my Dune Number so that I could sell my cakes to their specialty foods shop. Although the opportunity ended when Bloomingdale’s closed their specialty food shops, I learned that I had something special in my cakes. Every Friday evening I also baked twenty pies for Beekman Street Bakery and delivered them at 6:00AM on Saturday mornings. There were always special orders for more, especially during the holidays.
My vision is to grow this business into a company that will provide quality service to local as well as customers across the country. I would also like to see the business become financially able to move into a space dedicated to its needs and one that will be able to employ staff, train and encourage young entrepreneurs.
The immediate goals of the business are to establish a solid foundation from which the business will operate, to develop a group of persons who are willing to speak and provide a reference for it and finally to gain a group of loyal customers who will return again and again for our services. To achieve these goals we are working to establish a sound message and delivery structure for the business.
